The annual endowment event for MSU CVM is a great big "Thank You" to the major donors whose contributions help fund research, provide scholarships, and a multitude of other great and necessary things for the health and well being of our animals and food supply. This invitation used a neat-o pop-up to engage the recipient. I have to imagine that it found a place on more than a few desktops.

The holiday greeting for WMU-Cooley included a printed greeting and an electronic greeting tailored to different audiences. The electronic greeting utilized a sparkling animated gif to engage the audience.

The Michigan Humanities Council’s Great Michigan Read is a book club for the entire state with a focus on a single book – Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. We were honored to work with Michigan Humanities Council again in designing the reader's guide, teacher's guide, program guide, posters, and book marks to support the Great Michigan Read.

CLIENT: MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY ELI AND EDYTHE BROAD ART MUSEUM

The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum is a wonderfully angular, reflective, and unique architectural conversation piece on the campus of Michigan State University. For this fundraising brochure we focused on the thing that was the biggest identifier for the Broad — the angular shape. We diecut the brochure in the shape of the museum, and printed a photo of all it's angles on the back, over a metallic silver sheet, to simulate the dynamic, silver, building itself. With an accordion fold, the piece has a hard to resist interaction with the viewer.

How do you say "Thank You" to major donors? MSU CVM holds a celebration event each year. And it really is a celebration — for major donors who turn possibilities into realities, for the creatures that benefit from the expertise of MSU CVM, and for the students that find their bliss ensuring the health and welfare of our animals as well as our own food supply.

With a brochure highlighting the many ways in which a donation has impact accompanied by a save-the-date, an invitation, a detailed guide to endowments, and a very special dinner party — this is how you say "Thank You!".

Fundraising brochure for MSU CVM. This brochure was targeted to students of David J. Ellis and sought to establish an Endowed Chair in his name.

Because losing a beloved pet can be devastating, MSU College of Veterinary Medicine asked me to create a sympathy card. MSU CVM's research and clinical efforts support veterinarian practices worldwide in ensuring the health and safety of our pets, from birds and lizards to sheep, pigs, and horse — and pretty much everything in between.

Invitation to a tailgate party held as a client appreciation event. We had an actual license plate printed, with the invitation details attached to the back. A custom lanyard and pass was mailed and was the ticket into the party.

Logo, stationery set, and trade show brochure for TMP Architecture. TMP needed a logo that reflected the culture of their organization and their reputation for extensive work in sport and rec, K-12 and higher ed facilities. The diecut brochure was designed for trade shows to showcase their sports and rec projects. It was a piece that conference attendees would have a hard time tossing at the end of the day.

As a holiday self promotion we designed a series of diecut cards using plantable handmade paper that had been imbedded with wildflower seeds. The cards were printed with bold and simple graphics supported by messages of good will — Foster Freedom; Cultivate Abundance; Share Love: Plant Peace. It was memorable, usable, and environmentally conscious all at the same time.

Twisted Fiber makes hand died yarn in self-patterning colors. To establish an identity and branding, we designed a logo that uses varying splashes of dye colors for tags, labels, business cards and stationery set.

These were very successful fundraising materials for a matching scholarship donation effort, called the Cornerstone Challenge. We designed a brochure that outlined the matching donation program and included profiles of selected students who have made big impacts with the aid of scholarships. As part of the packaging, we designed an interactive magic cube with images from the brochure and statements about how scholarships have impacted the recipients. The cube, which opens and folds in many directions, is impossible not to play with, and even harder to toss. We knew it would earn a spot on a potential donor's desk at least until they decided to make a gift!

This self promotion holiday card was done in letterpress on a heavy weight Cranes sheet for a very elegant and artistic presentation.

For "An Evening of Good Taste", the annual fund-raising wine and hors d'oeuvres tasting event, we designed an invitation using an actual fork that was stabbed into a wine cork, and inserted with the rolled up invitation into a clear plastic mailing tube. The invitation was impossible to overlook and received high attendance.

As a cost saving measure, we also did a "B Version" of the invitation that used the actual cork attached to the invitation, which instead pictured the fork.

Each year MSU CVM gives a great big "Thank You" to major donors by holding an invitation only endowment event. Appealing to donor soft spots of dogs, horses and cows, the invitation utilized an accordion fold, digital printing, and a tactile soft touch coating to maximize its presence with minimum production costs.

For the Great Michigan Read, a statewide effort to promote discussion about a single book through author visits, libraries, book clubs, and book stores, we developed all the campaign materials, from brochures, to ads, to banners, logos, and bookmarks. The project was extremely successful and  well received.

New Perspective Architects wanted a brochure to help them stand out. Their philosophy was all about interactions with the client to help achieve solutions that perfectly filled the client's needs. To that end, we developed Bounce. The brochure took a pictorial approach to capturing client goals through the bounce and feedback of their approach. Packaged in a Lucite box, it included a really cool giant super ball. Honestly, who can resist that? This one is a keeper.

We worked with a PR firm to develop this very successful capital campaign for Hillsdale College, targeted to high end donors. We designed a sophisticated folder using a metallic sheet, embossed and foil stamped with the college's mission statement, and bound a brochure inside that highlights their accolades. To accommodate changing goals of the fundraising, we designed 2-color inserts for each fund raising target area with a "quick look" page summarizing the goals and mission facilitating the discussion between the presenter and a busy donor. The inserts could be quickly and inexpensively updates as the facts and figures changed throughout the campaign.

Working with a consultant for Ennis Center for Children, a Michigan based firm that places special needs children in foster care, we designed branding to appeal to both  intellectual and emotional senses. Ennis' audience included judges, government officials, foster care personnel, and donors. With five offices in different cities they needed materials that would deliver a unified message regardless of where it came from. In the brochure, we asked for success stories that we could highlight, and alternated those throughout the book with text on the nuts and bolts of the organization. The logo reflects the happy and bright futures of the children that Ennis works with. The stationery, business cards, and envelope use a bright palette of colors and each component displays a different piece of their mission statement.

For an invitation to the President's Basketball Event, Wolverines vs. MSU, we couldn't resist using an animal trap to poke some fun at the Wolverines. Gotta love a tease.

Those pesky Hawkeyes. It was MSU vs. Iowa for the President's annual brunch invitation. Everybody on this list is hardcore "Go Green" so wanted to see the feathers fly! And literally, we did.

Salon logo for the Exchange, a division of Douglas J Educational Center and Salon.

The zoo wanted a new brochure that was also a map, big enough to be useful and small enough to fit into a shirt pocket. We set this up like a broadside so it folded into a very small size, but when unfolded had enough landscape to do its job. And there was no binding, so it was budget friendly. The map was a pictorial guide to the park. Easy to follow, and pretty to boot!
